Artist Polly French lives along the Deerfield River in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, where she raises wildflowers and watches birds – frequent subject matters for her unique style of painting. Polly uses fingers, combs, pens and brushes, rubber and vegetable stamps, fabric, collage, specialty papers – whatever it takes to produce the desired painting. Her paintings typically have a suggestive, soft background with a defined subject foreground. The foreground images are often individually painted and collaged onto the background.
